An education, health and care (EHC) plan is for children and young people aged up to 25 who need more support than is available through special educational needs support. EHC plans identify educational, health and social needs and set out the additional support to meet those needs.

Natalie Packer is an educational consultant specialising in School Improvement and SEN. Previously, she has been an Executive Headteacher in Leicestershire and a Senior Adviser for the National Strategies SEN team, working alongside the DfE to support the implementation of the Achievement for All (AfA) project to improve outcomes for vulnerable learners. Prior to this, Natalie worked as a Local Authority Adviser for Special Educational Needs and School Improvement within the East Midlands where she was responsible for implementing a wide range of cross-phase continuing professional development and supporting schools with the leadership of SEN.
Natalie has developed and delivered national training on a wide range of issues, including SEN leadership, Pupil Premium and outstanding teaching and learning. She receives outstanding evaluations from SENCOs, SEN Administrators and Senior Leaders attending her events. Natalie is an associate consultant for nasen and the Academies Enterprise Trust. She is the author of ‘The Perfect SENCO‘ publication, an essential read for any senior leader responsible for improving provision and outcomes for pupils with SEN.
